The OCD Clinic Brisbane is proud to offer gold-standard diagnostic assessment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder for both children and adults. We have several experienced clinicians available to conduct these assessments, and while the assessment tools are consistent across clinicians, each assessment package will be tailored to the needs of clients to ensure a high level of clinical care.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Assessment
Diagnostic assessment for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder involves multiple components, including:
- An initial interview to discuss symptoms and their impact on functioning in daily life, screening for other presentations that could otherwise account for those difficulties, and family history of ADHD or other neurodevelopmental disorders
- Comprehensive questionnaire measures to assess for ADHD symptoms and other differential diagnoses
- Standardised psychometric testing to assess cognitive abilities and executive functioning
- Collateral information from family, school and other professionals to assess whether the client’s challenges are longstanding and consistent across settings
Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment
Diagnostic assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder involves multiple components, including:
- An initial interview to discuss symptoms, developmental history and family history of ASD or other neurodevelopmental disorders/developmental challenges
- Comprehensive questionnaire measures to assess for ASD symptoms and other differential diagnoses
- Administration of the ADOS-2 – a standardized, play-based observational assessment tool where a trained clinician can observe patterns of social reciprocity and restricted, repetitive behaviours
- Assessment of cognitive abilities
Collateral information from family, school and other professionals
Following assessments, clients will receive detailed feedback of their assessment outcomes in a neuro-affirming manner, psychoeducation regarding any diagnoses provided, and a comprehensive report.
